Tea Princess

Ever since I was a little girl, when I heard the word “High Tea”, I would think about white tablecloth, pretty floral teacups, and tiers of gorgeous cupcakes and scones. So when I visited the Peninsula Tea House last Sunday afternoon with Eve, L, and Miss A for a full Parisian afternoon tea experience, I was not disappointed.

The place itself is adjacent to the historic Tranby house, overlooking the beautiful Swan River. We were seated outside in the middle of the garden. The leaves have turned yellow, and fallen graciously on the ground, reminding us that Autumn has came.

There is nothing more pleasant than having girly conversations over freshly baked scones with jam and cream, dainty smoked salmon sandwiches, Parisian petits-fours, and rounds of Stockholm tea and orange pekoe.

What impressed me the most is the presentation. The tea came in individual silver teapots and royal albert’s fine cups, while the food came in a three-tier bone china, laden with a choice of savory and sweets. The combination between the ambiance, decoration, food, and service make you feel like a royalty.

We didn’t finish our food, because as much as we love cupcakes and petits-fours, after eating a few, the thought of sweets make us pale. However, the waiter was nice enough to give us a box so we can bring the untouched cakes home.

At the end of the session, we were all stuffed that we skipped dinner, but we were deliriously happy too. As for me, I will definitely come back for that vanilla scent Stockholm tea…
